Jeffrey D. Cote, 62, died February 18, 2026, at his Stockholm residence with his family at his side after over two years of battling cancer. Jeff was born in Caribou, Maine on September 5, 1963 and was the son of Dolores (Bossie) Cote and Dale Cote. Jeff was a 1981 graduate of Caribou High School and attended Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, then moving on earn his certificate and license as a Master Electrician. He began working at Huber Engineered Woods, LLC on October 1, 1983, and throughout a 38 and half year career with the company he held many roles including electrical supervisor, maintenance superintendent, and process project engineer at the Easton plant. Jeff also had many other opportunities to assist in starting up other mills including Huber's Virginia and Tennessee facilities.

Although Jeff had a very successful professional life, he was a bright presence at home with his family. Jeff married the love of his life Tamara (Sandstrom) Cote on July 17, 1987 and raised two daughters, Lindsey and Courtney who later on had children of their own, Elsie, Anna, and Benjamin, who were the true lights of his life. At home and in his personal life, Jeff was a jack of-all-trades and you could often find him in his garage or up to his family camp at Little Madawaska Lake working on a project and tinkering about - there truly wasn't anything he couldn't fix or improve. Jeff was also involved in organizations such as the Nordic Lakers Snowmobile Club, Knockout Hunting Camp, 'Club Twenty', and the unofficial "Gus" club, where he made many lasting and meaningful friendships.

In his last years, Jeff was very committed to spending time with his granddaughters, especially up to the camp, where he helped to teach them how to fish and enjoyed 'campfire treats'. Time at the lake with his family and friends was truly his favorite: on a summer Friday night, you could almost guarantee that he would be sitting on the porch at the lake with a friend having a 'Safety Meeting', listening to the "Oldie Goldies" sporting a Carhartt t-shirt, cutoff shorts, redwings, and a red solo cup. Jeff also spent numerous hours restoring an old snowmobile to museum quality as well as spending time up to 'hunting camp' with his buddies.

Jeff was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in October of 2023 and immediately started a hard fight. Originally it was estimated that Jeff had a prognosis of about 6 months, however, with the help of his Dr. Lukas Emery and his oncology team, at Northern Light AR Gould, as well as his will and determination to be here longer with his family, Jeff lived with this disease for almost 2 and a half years, allowing him to spend quality time with his family and friends and even meet his new grandbaby Benjamin who was born in December of 2025. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Northern Light Homecare and Hospice for the compassionate care and support given to Jeff and his family during his final days.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife Tamara of Stockholm and children Lindsey (Cote) Theriault and husband Tyler and their children- Elsie and Anna of Stockholm, Courtney (Cote) Wall and Nathan and their child- Benjamin of Caribou; brother Rod Cote and Robin of Wales, ME, sister Marie Agudelo and Jamie of San Antonio, TX, sister Donna Hardgrove and Leslie of Portland, OR as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends that he considered his family. Jeff was predeceased by his parents Dale and Dolores Cote and many dear friends who passed far too soon.

Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 6PM until 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Friday, February 27, 2026 at the Parish of the Precious Blood St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Stockholm. When the weather turns warmer, Tamara and the girls will welcome close family and friends to the cabin on Little Lake for an honorary "Safety Meeting" - just the way Jeff would have wanted.

From the beginning of his fight with cancer, Jeff was often heard saying that no child should ever have to endure the pain and uncertainty that cancer brings and it deeply weighed on his heart that children and families face this battle so early in life. In honor of his wishes, we invite friends and loved ones to consider making a donation in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Supporting childhood cancer research is a way we can help to carry his compassion forward and turn his struggle into something meaningful.
