Kora Emily Maynard, 91, died February 20, 2026 at Maine Medical Center in Portland with family by her side. She was born in Fort Fairfield, May 27, 1934 the daughter of the late Reuben and Eunice Altina (Morrell) Kelley. Kora was educated in the Fort Fairfield school system. On January 26, 1953, she married Harry Cecil Maynard Jr. and he predeceased her on April 4, 1990. Harry and Kora made their home in Washburn, owning and operating Maynard’s Service Station for many years. Kora also worked for McCain Foods and the US Census Bureau after her husband's passing. Kora was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; Edward Cecil Maynard and wife Kathy McPherson Maynard of Presque Isle, Reuben Wesley Maynard and his wife Suzanne Pouliot Maynard of Columbus, GA, Harry Cecil Maynard III and his wife Jolene Rae Nute Maynard of Lincoln, and Melvin Isaiah Maynard, and one sister Lois Adelaide Kelley of Fort Fairfield. Kora is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Eryn Doris Maynard of Denver, CO; Sharlene Emily-Rae Maynard, of Whitman, MA and Devin Paul Maynard of Lincoln, 1 Great Grandchild: Abilene Melissa-Rae Foley, of Whitman, MA.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one sister Ruth Eloise Kelley and one brother Melvin Andrew Kelley, of Fort Fairfield.
Graveside services will be in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those wishing to contribute in memory of Kora may do so through the Washburn Public Library, 1290 Main St, Washburn, ME 04786.
