Rita Nava passed away on Saturday, November 13th, 2021, at NCMC in Greeley, Colorado at the age of 86. Rita was born in Oklahoma City, OK on January 8th, 1935, to Reyes and Cresencia (Valdez) Nava. She was the second oldest of eleven children, Patricio, Reynaldo, Lupe, Guillermo, Lacaro, Manuel, Lola, Elena, Marcelo, and Martin. The four oldest have passed and the rest, Guillermo, Lacaro, Manuel, Lola, Elena, Marcelo, Martin are still with us to present day.
At the age of five Rita and her family moved to Mexico in hopes of a better life. Rita married in Mexico to Felipe Rubio where they had five children, Rogelio, Elena who passed at the age of one, twins Carmen, Silvia, and Juana. At the age of 42, Rita and her four children came to the United States and settled in Greeley, CO where they made their life to present day.
Rita spent most of her life as a housewife and taking care of her four children. A proportion of her life she also dedicated to care for her mother, Cresencia until she passed at the age of 86. Rita was a caring daughter, affectionate mother, and loving grandma. She helped raise her 14 grandkids and watched her 21 great grandkids grow.
Rita enjoyed hosting the holy week where she prepared coptel de camaron, ceviche, pescado frito, tortitas de camaron, and for sweets capirotada. Her hobbies consisted of crocheting, traveling, and gardening one of her favorite flowers, rose plants. As time went by her hobbies expanded to coloring, working her mind with word searches, and watching her favorite TV shows, Ridiculousness, Discovery Channel, Caso Cerrado, and La Rosa de Guadalupe.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, two older brothers, Reynaldo and Patricio and sister Lupe.
Visitation will be 4:00-6:00, Tuesday, November 23 at Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Ave. Greeley, CO. Life Celebration is 10:00 Wednesday, November 24 at Adamsons. Interment will follow.
