East Millinocket - Rita M. (Jarvis) Nisbett passed away on July 23, 2025. She was born on February 05, 1932, in East Millinocket, Maine.

Rita grew up in East Millinocket and was a graduate of Schenck High School, class of 1949. After high school, Rita continued her education at Gorham State Teachers College (now University of Southern Maine) and earned her degree in education.

Rita's passions in life were being a mother to her two sons, grandmother to four grandchildren and a great-grandmother of five. Her other passion was being an educator for the better part of 40 years whether a full-time teacher or substitute teacher in the Millinocket, East Millinocket and Medway school systems.

Rita was predeceased by her parents, Frank R. and Agnes A. (Roche) Jarvis; her sister, Bernice Jarvis; her brother, Gordon Jarvis and several brothers-in-law's and sisters-in-law's. She is survived by her husband of 72+ years (AUG 1952), Donald Nisbett of East Millinocket; son Gerald (Jerry) and his wife Kim of Berwick, Maine and son, Mark and his wife Hallie of Glenburn, Maine.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Catholic Church, 58 Cedar Street, in East Millinocket, ME, on July 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., where Rita was a life-long communicant. Interment will follow at the East Millinocket Cemetery. Friends and family are warmly invited to gather in the parish hall at 10:00 a.m. to share memories, offer reflections, and celebrate a life well lived.

The family wishes to extend their thanks and sincere gratitude for the incredible support and compassionate care provided by the team at Community Health and Counseling Services (CHCS).
