Rita Mallick O'Hare, of Orange, Connecticut and most recently Staunton, Virginia, beloved wife of the late John O'Hare, passed away on August 7, 2025. Born on July 30, 1930 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Stolar) Mallick, also of Bridgeport.

As nursing was Rita's chosen career, she is remembered as a school nurse working for the city of Bridgeport for many years. She also used her nursing skills in the care facility realm. Rita was a true daughter of the big city, spending much time in New York at the theater and art scenes. She will be remembered for her smart and stylish dressing, on which she prided herself. She was well-read, and always offered an opinion on current events.

In her retirement, she developed great skill with a camera and won many awards photographing a variety of subjects. She also dabbled in drawing and painting. Most interestingly, Rita was drawn to the new computer technology early on, and perfected her skills in computer application for herself throughout her later life. Rita and John also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe; their many trips gave them great happiness and memories to share.

Rita is survived by her son, Alan Firth and his wife Marie of Montebello, Virginia, and her grandson, Jonathan Firth and his wife Susan and 2 great grandchildren, Otis and Simon of Montclair, New Jersey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy infant, 450 Racebrook Road, Orange (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will follow at Orange Center Cemetery, Orange Center Road.
