Rita F. Prophitt, a beacon of love and creativity, passed away surrounded by the warmth of her family. Her life was marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her passion for nurturing both children and the beauty of nature. Born with a heart full of compassion, Rita spent a lifetime sharing her love and talents with those around her.
Surviving Rita is her beloved husband, Charles G. Traylor of Alexander City, AL, who stood by her side in a loving partnership that was a testament to their shared values and dreams. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her daughter, Kelli D. Prophitt (Chase Galloway), and her son, Nathan D. Prophitt (Jessica), both of Alexander City, AL. Her granddaughter, Emmalee J. Prophitt, will forever cherish the memories of her grandmother's gentle guidance and unconditional love. Also survived by her sister Rhonda Hendrix, and brothers, Roger (Lisa) Bishop, Richard (Sandy) Bishop and Rodney (Misty) Bishop, along with a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Rita now joins her late father, Wilfred Bishop, her mother, Edith White Bishop, and her first husband, Arlen L. Prophitt, in eternal peace.
For over 20 years, Rita's in-home daycare was filled with the laughter and joy of many children, whom she cared for as if they were her own. Known affectionately as Aunt Rita, she touched the lives of numerous families, guiding young minds with a gentle hand and a generous heart. After her cherished years of childcare, Rita brought her dedication and work ethic to Malibu Electronics, where she remained until her retirement in March of 2023.
A devout Christian, Rita's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. It guided her actions and gave her the strength to face life's challenges with grace. Her spirituality was evident in the way she lived her life, always striving to be a reflection of the love she believed was at the core of her beliefs.
Rita's interests were diverse and deeply personal. She found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as tending to her garden where she grew an array of beautiful flowers that mirrored the vibrancy of her spirit. Her hands were rarely still, as she crafted ceramics with meticulous attention to detail and created quilts that wrapped her family in the warmth of her love.
Those who knew Rita would describe her as loving, faith-filled, and creative. Her life was a tapestry woven with threads of kindness, generosity, and artistry. Rita's impact on the world was as profound as the quilts she made, each stitch representing a life she touched, a soul she comforted, and a heart she warmed.
Rita F. Prophitt's journey on this earth has ended, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her, the lives she has shaped, and the beauty she has left behind. She was a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
