Mr. Michael Trollis Prophitt

Funeral Service for Mr. Michael Trollis Prophitt, 61, of Anniston, Alabama, will be Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Alex City Methodist Church. Rev. Ronnie Palmer, Rev. Wayne Cowhick will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park with honors provided by the Alexander City Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Michael Trollis Prophitt, affectionately known as Mike to his friends and loved ones, passed away on April 28, 2024, in Anniston, AL, at the age of 61. Mike was born on November 25, 1962, in Germany, and he brought light and laughter into the lives of all who knew him.
Mike's life was characterized by his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Johnnie Prophitt; his cherished daughter, Alanna (Tyler) Stancil; his loving mother, Millie Prophitt; and his adored nieces and nephews, Emilly (Curtis) Smith, Ferris (Brian) Voss, Danielle Powell, and David (Melissa) Keel. He will be fondly remembered by his cousin who was more like a brother, Eric (Roulain) Harrell and a host of other cousins; his uncles, Larry (Wanda) Prophitt and Junior (Christine) Harrell; and his great-niece and great-nephew, Caroline Smith and Easton Voss. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Elwin Trollis Prophitt, and his twin brother, Mark Elwin Prophitt, with whom he shared an irreplaceable bond.
A proud graduate of Benjamin Russell High School, Class of 1981, Mike's strong work ethic was evident throughout his life. He dedicated over two decades of service as a forklift operator at Russell Corporation. His commitment to his country matched his commitment to his work; Mike faithfully and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard for six years, a testament to his patriotism and sense of duty.
Mike was a man of many passions, with a love for sports that ran deep. He was an enthusiastic Alabama fan and a supporter of Benjamin Russell High School. On the field, he was a formidable athlete, transforming into a different person once he donned his football uniform. His competitive spirit was matched by his sense of humor and his penchant for playing pranks, often teaming up with his twin brother Mark to the playful chagrin of their mother.
Beyond the field, Mike relished being outdoors and was known for his skill in working on lawnmowers, a testament to his hands-on approach to life. At home, he was a devoted husband and father, building a marriage with Johnnie founded on mutual love and respect. Their bond was a beacon of strength and joy in their community.
Mike was also a devout member of the Alexander City Methodist Church, where his faith was a source of comfort and guidance. Those who knew Mike were touched by his loving nature, his friendly demeanor, and his unwavering ability to bring a smile to anyone's face.
As we remember Mike, we celebrate a life lived with joy, love, and an unshakeable sense of loyalty. His presence will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. We take solace in the belief that Mike is now healed and whole again, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, friendship, and love.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Mike Prophitt was a beacon of light in the lives of many, and his memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace, Mike; your legacy will live on.
