Rita Ramos Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Garnand Funeral Homes - Garden City on Dec. 10, 2024.
Rita Ramos passed away surrounded by family on Saturday December 7th, 2024. A loving wife to Mario and mother to Christian, she will be remembered as somebody who opened her home and heart to all. Born to Robert and Connie Hernandez on July 2nd, 1951, Rita grew up in Garden City, Kansas where she (as she always told Christian) would hang out all day at the pool during the summer with friends and drag Main street a time or two with friends. Later in life, Rita would meet and fall in love with Mario Ramos. The two would marry on August 25th, 1990 in temperatures so hot, it melted the cake! Soon, Christian would join the party in 1994.
A woman dedicated to her job, she worked for Southwestern Bell/AT&T for 44 years, finally retiring in June 2024. People will remember her not only for her smile and laugh, but for her love of chocolate and passion for cooking. Her enchiladas and salsa were famous among family, doctors, coworkers and those lucky enough to have known her. Her sugar cookies were *THE* go to sweets for any family get-together. The secret? Soften that butter two days in advance. She was always one to love watching her daily shows like The Young and the Restless and countless episodes of Wheel of Fortune or Family Feud.
She is preceded in death by her Mother-Connie; Brother-Chris and Uncle-Fred. She is survived by: Husband-Mario and Son-Christian of Olathe, Father -Robert of Garden City, Sistas - Sally, Linda (Deb) and Rosann (Lynn) all of Garden City, Brothas - Richard (Jean) of Gardner, Kansas and Jerry (Raidene) of Brea,Ohio, countless numbers of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. In her memory, have a hot cup of cocoa and a Kit-Kat.
A Rosary will be held 5:00pm Sunday December 15, 2024 at Garnand Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held 12:00 pm Monday December 16, 2024 at St Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Jacob Schneider as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Harvesters KC in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N 7th Street, Garden City, KS 67846. 620-276-3219
