Donald H. Meyer, 95, died Tuesday February 3, 2026 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born at the family home on July 21, 1930, the son of Fred and Dena Meyer in Ellinwood, Kansas. A 1947 graduate of Ellinwood High School, Don farmed with his family until he joined the United States Army in 1953. A proud veteran, Don spent 19 months of his two-year Army service in Korea at the end of the Korean War.

After he returned stateside, Don married Donna Kinemond in 1956 and moved to Finney County to farm. After years of farming, he worked in various jobs in the oilfield industry. Don was a devout man of God who served in many jobs in the churches he attended.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna, two sons, David and Douglas, his parents, three brothers, and one sister. Survivors include his son, Dwayne (Debbie) Meyer of Garden City; daughter Deidre (Ross) Myers of Venore, TN; daughter Donelle (Jim) Broskow of Columbia, MD; granddaughter Miranda Meyer of Scottsdale, AZ; Miranda's mother, Tina Meyer Szelewycz of Lawrence, KS; and brother Richard Meyer of Inman, KS.

Visitation will take place Thursday February 5, 2026 from 12:00 (Noon) to 8:00 pm at Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. Family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am Friday February 6, 2026 at The United Presbyterian Church of Garden City with Reverend Wes Young Officiating. Burial will follow immediately in Valley View Cemetery of Garden City with military honors conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard and Southwest Kansas Veterans Honor Guard. The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to the Kansas Honor Flight or Faith Community Church both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
