Rita Ann Romano Wood passed away on November 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and warmth. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 1, 1957. Ritas life was filled with passions that brought her and those around her joy. She was a true fashionista with an eye for beauty and detail, even crafting her own wedding dress and jewelry for her special day. Known for her love of movies, crafts, and travel, Rita had a unique enthusiasm for life. Her journeys to Europe enriched her soul and her stories, and her time in Mexico instilled in her a deep appreciation for culture and connection. An excellent cook, Rita nurtured others with her food and her heart. She was as skilled in the kitchen as she was at making people feel cherished, always there to lend a listening ear or a comforting embrace. Her artistic talents shone through in her beautiful jewelry creations, a reflection of her vibrant spirit and keen eye for detail.Preceding her in death are her parents Anthony and Mary Cartina, and her husband Philip Wood. Rita leaves behind her children Lisa and Andrea Dirka, her loving sister Kathie (Tom) Limbers, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many lifelong friends and other family members who were touched by her kindness. Ritas warmth and laughter were contagious, and her memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Ritas legacy is one of love, creativity, and joy, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty she adored.
