Rita Therese (Costello) Schelble, age 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025. She was born on October 21, 1927 in Tomah, Wisconsin to Thomas and Ethel (Doyle) Costello. She married Robert M. Schelble on September 25, 1948 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Rita was a wonderful and positive person. She always gave the most sincere and caring smile, and she could never say a bad word about anyone. Rita had incredible baking skills having learned from her sisters and her mother. Rita enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, and attending family events.
Rita is survived by her husband Bob; children Bob (Sue), Tom (Shelley), Mike (Peggy), and Jim (Claire); 9 grandchildren: Scott (Cassie) with their son Asher; Kathy (Ray) Tormey with their children Mia and Zoe; Meghan (Jeff) Gremban with their children Spencer, Abbie, and Martin; Lisa (Tom) Dunham with their children Greta and Winnie; Katherine and Madison Schelble; Alex (Chase) Sorrick with their children Quinn and Scottie; and Emma (Dillon) Cook with their son Cam and soon arriving Baby Cook. She is further survived by many other relatives and dear friends. Rita was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter Mandy Schelble; and sisters Mary (George) Hegenbart and Margaret (Gene) Ritter.
Visitation will be from 10-11:00 am on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert the Great Drive, Sun Prairie, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am. Rita will be brought to her final place of rest in a private service at La Crosse Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Rita was able to receive wonderful care during her stay at The Crossings. The family wishes to thank them for their professionalism and care.
