Christopher Schelble Obituary

Christopher Martin Schelble

Mequon - Christopher Martin Schelble of Mequon, WI, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, May 1, 2020 at the age of 58. Chris bravely fought cancer for nearly 11 years before entering Eternal Life. He was born May 14, 1961 in Milwaukee, WI to Dr. James Arthur & Lorna (nee Gallun) Schelble and was the loving brother to Debra Wanger, Jeffrey (Amy), Lori, Michael (Patricia), and the late Jay Schelble. Chris is further survived by many nieces and nephews (who all agree he is their favorite uncle) and many dear, life-long friends.

Chris attended University School of Milwaukee and later the University of Arizona, ultimately graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Business. He was entrepreneurial from a young age. In high school and college, he ran a valet parking business and towed cars from snowbanks on Lake Drive in his Chevy Blazer. After a career in printing, Chris founded Schelble Automotive Group in 2009.

Chris had many passions. He especially loved hockey. You could often find him at the rink cheering on his kids as a spectator or coach. In his own time, he played in Old Men's leagues and annual pond hockey tournaments with friends. Chris also loved cars and auto racing. He was an active member of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Audi Club and made frequent trips to Road America to drive in track events. Chris was known for his love of cowboy boots, Jimmy Buffet, and traveling with his family. He was a life-long member of Milwaukee Country Club, where he surprised himself by winning the 2013 Jamboree Golf Championship.

Chris' greatest passion was his family, raising four children with his loving wife of 32 years, Mary (nee Casey). He was a caring and proud father to Casey, Thomas, Grace, and George. His family and friends will remember him for his sharp wit and keen sense of humor, distinctive style, constant optimism, ability to fix anything, and the selfless love he shared with everyone in his life. Chris was an inspiration to all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Antony Ruggeri, MD, and the staff of Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center for their compassionate care of Chris.

Memorial services will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Chris' name may be made to Marquette University High School, at https://www.muhs.edu/support-muhs/give-now, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, at http://giftfunds.stjude.org/ChrisSchelble.

Chris coached our son, Charlie, and helped him gain confidence as a goalie on the squirts at Milwaukee Winter Club. At the end of the season he gave Charlie a set of Marquette High horn stickers for his helmet. For a 9 year old, that was just about the neatest thing in the world. Our heartfelt gratitude and sympathies.

Chris had a huge impact on my son, Jason, at a young age. Jason could not even skate, but Chris helped mold him into a decent little hockey player in just a couple of years. He was a fabulous coach and his sense of fairness, his dedication to improving each of his players, and his sense of humor will always be remembered and appreciated. He left a great legacy. My son, Jason, and I will be forever grateful. Our prayers are with the Schelble family
