Rita M. (Schlecht) Wiegert, age 86, of Bellevue, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in St. Donatus. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Rita was born on October 18, 1938, the daughter of Elmer and Mildred (Brown) Schlecht. She attended Country School at Washington #1 and later graduated from Miles High School. On December 3, 1960, she was united in marriage to Raymond Wiegert at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Raymond preceded her in death on March 19, 1997.
Rita was employed at the Jackson County Courthouse and later worked at Mill Valley Care Center for over 30 years before retiring. She had a passion for genealogy research and was well known for her exceptional cooking. Rita will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Reynold Wiegert and Rhonda (Mark) Hefel; granddaughter, Rachel Hefel; brothers-in-law, Albert Wiegert, Jr. and Eldon Wiegert; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; a son, Roland Wiegert in 2007; siblings, Richard (Rosalee) Schlecht and Joseph (JoAnn) Schlecht; and in-laws, Laverne (Mary) Wiegert, Alverda (John) Beck, Harold Wiegert, Judy Wiegert, and Sandy Wiegert.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Above and Beyond Hospice or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rita’s memory.
