Rita Jo Seabourn, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully at her home on the morning of September 23, 2025, at 7:15 a.m., surrounded by the love of her family. She was 87 years old. Her departure, though heartbreaking, was a reflection of the grace and peace she embodied throughout her life-always with a smile even on her final moments, a heart full of love and faith.

Rita was born on July 13, 1938, in Mesquite, Texas, to Arthur McCallum and Maurine Massey. She was a proud member of the Mesquite community and dedicated much of her life to serving others. Rita worked for the Mesquite Police Department for many years, retiring in June 2000 after a distinguished career as a secretary and sketch artist. Her contributions to the department were invaluable, and her talent as an artist left a lasting impact on the community

.

A deeply devout woman, Rita was known for her unwavering faith and commitment to living according to God's word. She was a constant presence in her church and a true example of grace and kindness to all who knew her. Rita's faith was her foundation, and she lived each day with love, patience, and compassion.

Rita was also a woman of many passions. She loved her shop, Rita's House of Gifts, where she brought joy to others through her carefully chosen treasures. Beyond her work, she was an avid bowler, and every week she enjoyed the camaraderie of the lanes, where she formed many lasting friendships. She especially cherished weekends and holidays spent with her family, playing games for hours on end-moments filled with laughter, love, and connection.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur McCallum and Maurine Massey; her first husband, her highschool sweetheart Larry Seabourn; her second husband, Jimmy Williams; and her beloved soulmate, Doyle Metcalf, whom she cherished deeply.

She is survived by her brother, Thomas McCallum and his wife, Carol, and their son, Michael McCallum, and his wife, Tammy; her sons, Larry Russell Seabourn and wife Shirl, and Harry Wayne Seabourn and wife Jerri; as well as her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ashley Lopez and her husband Gerardo, children Abby and Jacob; Christopher Seabourn, children Natalie and Isabella; and Sean Seabourn and his wife Sammi, children Parker and Madi.

Rita's legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith will continue to live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Christian Center of Mesquite, located at 4401 E Cartwright Rd., Mesquite, Texas 75181 with viewing/visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.

Following the service, burial will take place at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park, 12649 Lake June Rd., Balch Springs, Texas 75180.

Floral arrangements may be delivered to the church.
