Rita Sheehy Obituary
Rita T. Sheehy, age 94, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday, January 10, 2022, at home in the care of her family. Born in Shelton on April 22, 1927, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Serra Costa Ribas and was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Donald Sheehy, Sr., her son, Michael Sheehy, her brothers and sister: John RIbas, Joseph (Pappy) Ribas, Vincenzo (Jimmy) Ribas, Anthony Ribas, Henry (Hank) Ribas, Edward Ribas, and Mary Ribas.
A strong woman, always supportive, her life was centered on family and friends. Some of her work and community experiences included serving as a court stenographer while in high school, working for the FBI in their Washington, DC, Miami, and New Haven offices from 1945-1947; serving as Chairman of the Board at VARCA for many years; and working daily in the family business for nearly 50 years.
She is survived by her two sons, William J. Sheehy and his wife Linda, and Donald R Sheehy, Jr and his wife Kathleen. She was the loving grandmother of Cristin Tilki, wife of Steven Tilki, Colleen Sheehy Davidson, wife of Mark Davidson, and Donald Sheehy III, husband of Juilia Ressler Sheehy. Jennifer Sheehy Lyke, wife of Kenneth Lyke, III. Rita delighted in the love of her eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
On Friday, January 14, 2022 a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Church, 5 Donovan Lane, Shelton at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley, 1 Positive Place, Shelton, CT 06418 Due to the present risk of illness, a celebration of her life will be held on her birthday in April.

I only knew Mrs. Sheehy from a distance being her neighbor on Toas Street. My husband and I were always amazed by her constant energy. We loved her without even knowing her personally. She was by far the most active and admired senior citizen I have known. Im sad I will not see her again but please know she was an inspiration to both of us and I hope our lives will be as fulfilling as hers seemed to be. I will remember her for a very long time. Rest in peace Mrs. Sheehy.
