Bellefonte, Pennsylvania - It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our mother, Rita Shetler, who left this world peacefully at the age of 94.

Born on September 23, 1930 in Berlin, Germany our mom, Rita, met our dad, "Smokey" from Pittsburgh, PA and started her journey with our dad Sarge Shetler and the US Army through many states ending up in Washington, PA. She spent the last 10 years of her life living happily with her son, Stephen, and his partner Jerry. Rita and Sarge had 4 children together and built their family around love for their family and the US. Rita was so proud and happy to become a US citizen in 1958.

Rita is survived by her children Tom (Valerie), Steve (Jerry deceased), Tish (Sam Duerr) and Jimmy (Mary) who carry her memory in their hearts and daily lives. The grandchildren, Matt (Tiffany), Dana (Danny Jones), Kelley, Drew, Annie (Sean Henry), Sam and Sarah and great-grandchildren Cadence and Jaedan brought much happiness to Rita's daily life.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 24th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in State College with Pastor Ronald Miller officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 pm at Meyer Cemetery in Bellefonte, PA.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, her kindness and love will live on through her family and all who knew her and enjoyed her lovely German accent.
