Gary L. Sunday

Gary Sunday, 77, passed away on February 18, 2026, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Gary Sunday was born on November 15, 1948, in Bellefonte, PA, to the late Phillip Sunday and Virgina (Ripka) Bitner.

Gary graduated from Bellefonte Area High School. He started his career as a Tool and Dye Supervisor at Volkswagen, and after 17 years took a position at Arrow International. He remained with Arrow until his retirement.

The couple had 2 children, Shanelle Hernley (Randall), of Scottdale, Sherry Sunday-Booth of Myrtle Beach; five grandchildren, LJ Sutton, Jessyah Sutton, Jesseka Sutton, Zachary Rossey, Sara Manley (Josh), and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, David Sunday of State College, Dennis Sunday (Jackie) of Bellefonte, and Michael Sunday (Donna) of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Elisabeth Sunday-King and sister, Phyllis Hoover.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman and looked forward to going to camp and hunting season. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, especially trips to Las Vegas and playing slot machines. He also enjoyed going to the Moose Lodge, the VFW, and hanging out with his brothers.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home, with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. Burial services will immediately follow in Union Cemetery in Bellefonte.
