Rita Pool Snow, age 96, died on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Freedom Village in Holland, Michigan. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Don and Mary Pool, her sister Eunice Mae Tompson, and her husband, Robert Snow.

Rita was born on April 2, 1929, and raised on a farm in Illinois. She graduated from Monmouth College and spent several years teaching in Denver, Colorado. In 1952, she married Robert Snow. They made their home in Wisconsin and in Minnesota as the family expanded, then moved to Ohio where they lived for many years.

Rita kept busy during all those years by volunteering through the churches they joined, the children's schools, and community organizations. She set up the first library in their grade school and oversaw its program for eight years. She and Bob left each place they lived better for their having been there. And she was a wonderful wife and mother to her family.

Upon retirement, Bob and Rita moved to Freedom Village in Holland, Michigan. Bob grew up in Holland, so it was a coming home for him and a blessing to them both. They joined Hope Church and HASP - many new friends and service opportunities resulted from these affiliations. Rita had joined the PEO sisterhood in Wisconsin; she moved her membership to Minnesota, Ohio, then to Michigan, providing an avenue for new friends in new places. Bob and Rita enjoyed travel on Hope College-sponsored tours. It was a wonderful way to experience Europe and beyond.

At her death Rita is survived by her four children: Don Snow (Wei Hong) of Kunshan, China; Scott Rice-Snow (Jennifer) of Muncie, Indiana; Laurel LeSuer (Robert) of Erie, Pennsylvania; and David Snow of Hong Kong. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Chris (Cassie), Jamie (Anna) and Michael LeSuer; Duvessa Rice-Snow; and Addison and Griffin Snow. Her great-grandson, Laszlo Charles LeSuer, was born on her 96th birthday; she was able to meet him in June. There are also many dear nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express our deepest appreciation to Mom's caregivers at Freedom Village and to her amazing caregivers from Gentiva Hospice.

A memorial service will take place on Friday, September 19 at 10:30am in the Freedom Village Auditorium, 145 Columbia Avenue, Holland. A one hour visitation will follow the service from 11:00am until 12:00pm.

Memorial gifts may be made to Hope Church Deacon Fund (77 W 11th Street, Holland, MI 49423) or to the Scholarship Committee at Freedom Village (145 Columbia Ave, Holland, MI 49423 Attn: Gwen Bartels), or to a charity of one's choice
