Rita Williams Sullivan, age 76, was born on December 6, 1948, in Grand Bay, Alabama, and passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents: Wilhelmina and Wincen Williams; brother, Clayton Williams; and one sister, Gail Ward. Rita was a devoted wife to Vernon Sullivan for 28 years before he died. She is survived by her children: Craig (Lauren), Lyman Marion (Brandy) and Ginny (Sean). She was a loving grandmother to four granddaughters: Caroline, Elizabeth, Amelia, and Alice; and five grandsons: Ryan, Lyman Thomas, Will, Jay, and Matthew.
Rita began her career as a teacher at St. Margaret's Catholic School in Bayou La Batre before becoming an At-Home Day Care provider. Following, she and Vernon enjoyed working together renovating properties. Rita loved her family and friends deeply. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends on adventures near and far.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 12450 AL-188, Grand Bay, Alabama, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m.. Rita will be laid to rest at Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6040 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, Alabama. As she was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Parish, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the building fund or Ladies Sodality of St. John the Baptist Parish.
