Rita Sue Taylor, 82, of Washington, Indiana, passed away on February 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Rita was born on May 31, 1943, in Washington, Indiana, to Dallas and Mable Fox. She was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School. She married Jimmy Ray Taylor on September 11, 1971, and they spent over twenty-seven years together before his passing on October 10, 1998. Throughout her working years, Rita dedicated herself to caring for other through her employment at Daviess Community Hospital and Eastgate Nursing Center. She was a member of the Washington Church of Christ.
Rita had a generous heart and especially loved babysitting the children of family and friends. She found joy in simple pleasures and creative pursuits, including sewing, cross-stitching, crocheting, and tending to her flower gardens. She enjoyed gardening, camping, and mushroom hunting.
Rita is survived by her children, Sherri (George) Rice, Rodney (Rebekah) Taylor, Lori (Mark) Osmon, and Teresa (Jason Gross) Biddinger; her grandchildren, Kory McDaniel, Kevin McDaniel, Kirsten McDaniel, Nathan Taylor, Meghan Wilmot, Makayla Ervin, Haley Osmon, and Alisha Biddinger; her great-grandchildren, Ezra McCoy-McDaniel, Konor McDaniel, Kaia McDaniel, Kingston Lucas, Cooper Lucas, Greyson Ervin, Stella Ervin, and Rebekah Smith; and her siblings, Shirley Cervany, Beverly Lovett, Betty Jo Thompson, and Melvin Fox. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters, Rozella Fox and Linda Maharrey, and her brother, Tommy Fox.
Visitation for Rita will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 11:30am-1:00pm EST at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. A funeral service will begin at 1:00pm with Minister Pat Arthur officiating. Following the service, Rita will be laid to rest at Sugarland Memory Gardens in Washington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Donation Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
