Rita Rosa Carrero Young, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 27th, 2025, at the age of 69. Born in Bailadores, Mérida, Venezuela, Rita was the youngest of sixteen children and grew up surrounded by a large, loving family.
Rita’s life was a testament to intelligence, hard work, and independence. She built a long and successful career in the banking industry, where her dedication and perseverance earned her respect and admiration as she worked her way up through the ranks. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Rita’s true legacy lies in her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
After converting to the LDS faith she immigrated to Salt Lake City where she met her husband and remained a faithful member until her passing.
Rita found joy in serving others. She volunteered her time at the Jordan River LDS Temple and worked at the Church’s farm, demonstrating her commitment to her faith and community.
Rita is survived by her devoted husband, Boyd Young; her beloved son, José; her cherished stepchildren and step-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. She will be remembered for her loving heart, caring spirit, and the example of strength and faith she leaves behind.
A viewing will be held the evening of Sunday, September 7th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Goff Mortuary at 8090 S. State St. Midvale, UT. A service to honor Rita’s life will be held on Monday, September 8th at 11:00 AM at the LDS Stake Center at 275 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT with a viewing beginning at 10:00 AM. where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life and the love she shared with so many. Interment to follow services at Elysian Burial Gardens.
