Rob “Red” Chapman, a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026 in his hometown of Ville Platte at the age of 85. Funeral services will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery with Father Mitch Guidry officiating services.
Rob “Red” Chapman was born on Sunday, May 19, 1940 in Ville Platte to Zack and Isabelle Fontenot Chapman. Rob was a generous man who was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved spending time with his family and was a good provider for them and made sure they had everything that was needed. Rob was an automotive parts salesman by trade having worked at Veillon Motors, Morein Motors, and John R. Young Chevrolet. When not working, he enjoyed gardening and sharing his vegetables. Rob will be greatly missed by those he loved and his memory will continue to live on in their hearts.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Ruth Stanford Chapman; three sons, James Chapman (Jennifer), Brent Chapman (Laura), and Jason Chapman (Angela); nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Kimberly, Megan, Savannah, Ian, Riley, Courtney, Lilly, and Isabelle; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one sister, Laura Jenkins.
Rob is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gloria Boone, Betty Usher, Lorita Evans, Faye Chapman, and Sue Chapman; great grandchildren, Matthew and Madison Boudreaux; and granddaughter in law, Kimberly Guillory.
A visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 beginning at 10:00 AM until time of service.
