Rob (Monkey) Wall, passed away unexpectedly at home in Evant on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26 at First Methodist Church in Gatesville with Pastor Stephen Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at Hurst Ranch Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Scott’s Funeral Home.

Robert Garth Wall was born on November 20, 1973, in Waco to Graham Henry Wall and Wilma Wilson Wall. He attended Gatesville schools, graduating in 1992. Rob thoroughly enjoyed hauling cattle which he did for many years along with helping on his father’s ranch. In the evenings he enjoyed mowing, watering his grass and going to check the cows. When helping his dad when he was young, the trucks and trailers that came in to haul cattle always caught his attention. He would tell the story that when he went to take his driver’s test for his CDL, Turner called him on the phone during the test to tell him what cuts of sale cattle to pick up that night. He had no doubt in his ability to get that CDL. Rob has backed a trailer more miles than some have driven forward. The cab of the truck was like home to him, where he sought solace during difficult chapters of life. He would tell of a time when he wore out a Linda Ronstadt tape during his many trips to Sublette, Kansas. Very few men wake up every day knowing they are going to work to do what they truly love. Rob lived that life for nearly 30 years. He could come home, take a shower, grab more clothes and head right back out. There were times he would call to meet you somewhere with a change of clothes because he was going to be out longer than he thought. When cattle were moving, you could bet that “Wall Wagon” would be too.

Rob had many sides. Friends knew the free spirited, fun loving, and no limits side. Customers knew him as loyal, dedicated, very well-mannered and one who always “got ‘em there safely.” The family got to see the softer side of Rob with a heart so big and the best hug giver around. If given a gift, he would be more appreciative than you would expect. If you didn’t know what to get him, a flashlight would definitely do the trick!

Rob first married Melinda Booth on September 18, 1999. He took Macy in as his own and later adopted her. He loved her as his own until his passing. Together, Rob and Melinda had a son, Mason Garth. He was such a proud Dad. They divorced and Rob went on to enjoy his love for cow trucks until March 5, 2016. He went to the annual Cow Haulers Round Up and found out that Charla Kay was divorced as well. Fate had already been sealed. They met for a first date and they were instantly connected. They married on May 12, 2017. His love for trucks ran so deep that they missed their honeymoon to Florida to help rebuild a motor in one of his trucks. This was always a source for a good laugh when brought up or anytime Florida was ever brought up in any conversation.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Garth and Ina Beth Wall and Tilda Wilson Rice and W. B. Wilson.

Rob is survived by his wife, Charla; parents, Graham and Wilma Wall; children, Macy Martinez and Mason Wall; bonus children, JC Harrell and Kendy Harrell; grandchildren, Amara Martinez and Arabella Rivera; bonus grandchild, Olivia Harrell; sister, Lori Edens and husband, Tommy; niece, Jordi Mitchell and husband, Lane; and great nephew, Brooks.

Memorials may be made in Rob’s memory to Cowhauler’s Round Up C/O Ann Payne P.O. Box 327 Merkel, Tx 79536 or First  Methodist Church 2600 East Main Street Gatesville, TX 76528.
