Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service - West BendRobert “Bob” Albert Wunsch Jr., 78, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, June 28th. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Jayne Henderson, his daughter, Kimberly Dove, his four sons, Robert A. Wunsch III, Christian Brewer, Casey Wunsch, and Ryan Wunsch, and his grandchildren, William, Henry, Mary, and Juniper.
Bob was born in 1946 at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio to his parents, Robert and Jane Wunsch. He spent his childhood fishing, going to the beach, working on old cars, and diving. He liked diving so much that in 1966, after attending the prestigious Culver Military Academy, he enlisted in the US Navy as a diver.
Over the course of his military career, Bob rose to the rank of Lieutenant, Junior Grade, in which he was commissioned in 1970. Bob saw service during the Vietnam War in multiple capacities, but was most proud of his time on the USS Salinan, where he discovered his love for the Caribbean Sea. There he served as a Master Salvage Diver, the Ship’s Diving Officer, the Ship’s Navigator, and in time, the ship’s Executive Officer.
In 1973, Bob decided it was time to move on from the Navy and focus on family. He would move his then wife, Susan Owens, and his three recently born sons to Wisconsin, where he would take a job at Miller Brewing Company. It was here that Bob would remain for almost 35 years! He began his career on the truck docks, as Truck Dock Supervisor, and would eventually be in charge of the entire 76-acre facility’s maintenance and grounds.
In 1986, Bob married the love of his life, Jayne Henderson, whom he met while working at Miller Brewing Company. Bob would move with his three sons to Jayne’s horse farm in Kewaskum, where he would expand his family with a daughter and another son. Together Bob and Jayne founded Our Farm Morgans, a successful Morgan Horse Farm.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed working the farm, fishing, raising and hunting pheasants, and recreational shooting, to include Cowboy Action Shooting. He also very much enjoyed vacationing with Jayne to the Bahamas, Florida, various islands in the Caribbean, and anywhere it was warmer than Wisconsin.
Bob was a loving husband, a steadfast provider, an exemplary father, a fierce friend, the absolute hardest of workers, and a selfless person. He imparted his desire to serve onto his children, as eventually Robert III., Christian, Casey, and Ryan would go on to serve in various branches of the Military, Casey also in Law Enforcement, and Kimberly as a Nurse. His charm and wit were only surpassed by the size of his heart. He will be sorely missed, and definitely never forgotten.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at The Columbian Hall, 3245 Lighthouse Lane, in West Bend, on Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with military honors occurring at 3:00 p.m.
