Robert A. “Bob” ABBOTT, II, 67, of Sylvania, PA, formerly of Belmont, NY, died Thursday, August 21, 2025 in Arnot Medical Center, Elmira, NY.
Born June 17, 1958, in Wellsville, he was the son of Robert A. and Donna M. Baker Abbott. Bob was a 1976 graduate of Belmont Central School. On June 25, 1977, he married his soulmate and best friend, Susan M. “Susie” Bliven, who predeceased him on December 19, 2021. He was employed by Suburban Propane, RMT, and retired as a foreman from Dresser Rand. After retirement, he and his wife owned and operated B&S Convenience Store in Sylvania. Bob was a life member and past chief of the Belmont Fire Company, member of the Scio Fire Department, and served as Mayor of Sylvania.
Surviving are: his two daughters, Bobbie Jo (Ray) Klein of Shinglehouse and Jody Abbott of Shinglehouse; four grandchildren, Austin Abbott, Jadyn Fleischman, Kaelyn Beckwith, and Lucas Fleischman; a sister, Kim (David) Waters of Belmont; three brothers-in-law, Shawn (Lynn) Bliven, Dennis (Donna) Bliven, and Lintz (Karen) Bliven; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Sharon L. Cartwright.
It was Bob’s request that his family plan a private celebration of his life on a later date. Memorials may be made to Belmont Fire Company, Scio Fire Department, or the Troy American Legion.
