Robert F. Aberle
March 22, 1938 – October 30, 2023
Robert (Bob) Aberle passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023 at the Hospice House in East Northport surrounded by his loving family.
Prior to moving to Bay Shore, Bob took great pride in his home of 57 years in Hauppauge, NY. It was here that he designed and built many home furnishings that withheld the test of time. It was also here in his basement office and workshop that he designed and built over fifty radio controlled model airplanes and wrote hundreds of magazine articles and two books about model aircraft. He worked as an Engineering Manager at Grumman for over 30 years, but spent over 60 years on his model aircraft hobby. His awards and honors in this field are too numerous to list here, but the one he was most proud of came in 1998 when he was inducted into the Academy of Model Aeronautics Hall of Fame.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Irene (Baliunas), he is survived by his children: Thomas Aberle of Stamford, CT; Patricia Parkes and her husband, Bruce, of Cranston, RI; and Jill Kelly and her partner, John Manilio, of Westfield, NJ. He was the adoring and proud grandfather of Allison, William, Hayden, Justin, Garrett, and Pierce.
The family wishes to thank the caring, supportive, and loving staff at Atria Bay Shore Senior Living for becoming part of Bob's extended family over the past three years. They also would like to thank the wonderful and compassionate staff at Hospice House East Northport. He will forever be in our hearts as he flies freely with the angels.
