Robert E. Albright Sr., passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024, in Glenville, NY. Born in Schenectady, NY, to the late Edward and Sadie (Gregory) Albright, Robert's life was a testament to love, service, and family devotion.
A proud veteran, Robert served his country in the Army during the Korean War, where he earned the Bronze Star for his bravery and commitment. After his honorable discharge, he returned to his hometown, where he continued to serve his community as a dedicated clerk with the United States Postal Service for 38 years until his retirement in 2006. His work ethic and reliability made him a respected figure both in his professional circle and beyond.
Robert's education in Schenectady laid a foundation for his life's endeavors, but it was his heart that truly educated those around him in the lessons of compassion and generosity.
Family was the epicenter of Robert's world. He is survived by his loving son, Robert E. Albright Jr. (Amy Hettrich), and his cherished daughter, Karen Albright. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Though preceded in death by his late sisters, Charlotte Marcum and Gertrude Albright, and his late former wife and mother of his children, Louise (Giovannone) Albright, the legacy of love they shared continues to live on through their descendants.
Robert's love for his family knew no bounds. He was a man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures, like traveling and taking family vacations to Wildwood, where memories were made and laughter was shared. These moments, precious and irreplaceable, are etched forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
A guardian angel watched over Robert in his final years, providing love, care, support, and visits that enriched his days. The family extends profound gratitude for the angelic presence that brought so much comfort and joy to Robert's life.
Funeral services for Robert will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11 am at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Rotterdam.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Robert's name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (https://www.dav.org/).
