With deep sorrow, our beloved matriarch, Amelia "Mickey" Albright, peacefully passed on October 20, 2025, in her home, at the impressive age of 98. She left this world just as she lived in it: surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 2, 1927, in Kansas City, KS to John and Rose DeVosha, she witnessed nearly a century of history. Her life was a testament to grace, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and the Lord above.
Mickey was the family's anchor. She was a source of quiet strength, a steadfast supporter, and the keeper of our most cherished traditions. Her life's story was not defined by grand gestures but by the countless small, consistent acts of love. She taught us that the richest moments are found at the dinner table, in a shared story, or during a chat over dessert.
In 1946, she married her sweetheart, Lowell K. Albright, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting traditions. A talented homemaker, and a skilled card player, she taught her family the value of hard work and the joy of simple pleasures. Mickey was a lifelong member of the Callao Christian Church, where her dedication was a leading example on how to serve with selflessness. Mickey was also recognized for her continuous membership to the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, serving 63 years, and her continued dedication to the Eastern Star.
Mickey was an extraordinary woman who filled our lives with love and laughter. Mickey was the family's guiding light, whose role as the heart of the family would draw four generations together for meals and milestones. Her legacy can be described through her impact, her spirit will live on in each of us – in the lessons she taught, the love that she shared, the strength that she embodied. She was the heart of our family, and her lessons in life shaped us into who we are today. Even in her final moments, her strength and grace were a testament to her incredible faith in the Lord.
While her absence leaves an unfillable void, we take comfort in knowing that her memory will live on forever through her family and the many lives she touched. She will be remembered for her gentle wisdom, her infectious laugh, and the unconditional love she so freely gave.
She is survived by a large and sprawling family, which gave her endless joy. Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom will strive to live with the same warmth and kindness she showed us every day.
Mickey was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell K. Albright, and her son, Daniel Albright. Mickey was the loving mother to Ben & Ginger, Mike, and Sarah. She was the cherished grandmother to Allison (Chris), Tiffany (Jacob), Adrian, John, Jonna (Jerod), Paige (Bobby) and a proud great-grandmother to Lauren (Kaleb), Damion, Jake, Ashton, Amelia, Kurt, Drake, Layne, Reese, Remi, Aza, Mira, Brody, Julian, Tucker and the only dog she ever allowed in the house, Dixie.
Funeral services for Mickey will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon with Bro. Josh Stucki officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, October 22, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The visitation is open to everyone.
