Robert C. "Bob" Alexander Jr., affectionately known by some as Bobby, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, September 28, 2025. He now has joined his father, Robert Alexander Sr.

Born May 4, 1961 in Decatur, Alabama to Robert and Jo Ann Alexander, he spent most of his life in Missouri before moving to Florida.

As a man of faith, his reverence for God's creation was apparent throughout his life. During his childhood he enjoyed playing outside in the woods and creek by his home in nature's classroom. In his career, Bob continued that connection with the outdoors. He instilled his love of nature and animals to his children, Clinton and Anneleyce. Bob particularly loved dogs, and dogs were fond of him as well.

His long career as a wildlife biologist began in Missouri with the State and then as a Federal Employee. Later, he moved to Florida for the position of District Supervisor for USDA Wildlife Services. After his many contributions in Missouri, he was excited about the variety of species to encounter and projects to oversee in Florida. Bob greatly valued mentoring colleagues and continued to do so beyond their time together as co-workers.

A romantic and devoted husband, Bob was married to the love of his life, Cathy, for 39 years. Bob deeply loved his family. He is known as a caring son, affectionate father, and loyal friend.

With his well-known sense of humor, laughter was never far away when Bob was around. He never lost the value of playfulness, which shone through in many ways including his characteristic mischievous twinkle in his eyes.

Bob cherished time spent with family, and enjoyed bonding over good food. He found fulfillment in others enjoying his culinary creations, and liked to share the adventure of trying new foods and flavors (but cheese was always on the menu). He enjoyed rooting on his favorite sports teams and rallying others to join in the excitement.

He is survived by his wife, Cathleen Alexander; his children, Clinton (Hayley Steidinger) Alexander and Anneleyce (David) Dunlop; his mother, Jo Ann Alexander; and numerous loving relatives and friends.

Bob did not desire a formal service. In his remembrance, we invite you to spend time connecting with nature however you choose.

If you feel drawn to give, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice, to a dog/animal rescue, or to Moffitt Cancer Center https://www.moffitt.org/give/ in Bob's honor.
