Robert Allen Heffner

Pine Beach, NJ – Robert A. Heffner, 70, passed away on September 9, 2021 at his home. He was a long-time resident of Pine Beach, NJ. Bob grew up in Airville, PA and graduated from Penn State University with a degree in nuclear engineering. He worked for more than 40 years at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station, where he held several positions, including Analyst, Group Supervisor, Radiological Controls Field Operations Deputy Manager, and Dosimetry Supervisor. He retired in 2018 as a Radiological Protection Engineer.
He is survived by his sister, Barbara A. Heffner, and her husband Carl F. Barnes of Wayland, MA; one nephew, Robert F. Barnes, and his wife Kara M. Widdison; several cousins, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his partner, Catherine Fullerton. Over the course of his life, Bob had a wide range of interests, including playing baseball, golf and his guitar. He made many trips to the Great West and loved The Rolling Stones. Last year, he became interested in the night sky and visited Cherry Springs State Park, PA, which is a dark sky park.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Lacey Elks Club, 900 Beach Blvd., Forked River, NJ on October 17 at 1:30 p.m. It will be followed immediately by a reception.
