Robert "Bob" Karl Applegate, age 64 of Cambridge, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at OSU James Cancer Center in Columbus, surrounded by his family. He fought a long hard battle to stay with them, but the Lord had his plans. He was born on January 20, 1960 in
Bethesda, Maryland at a U.S. Naval Hospital.
Bob was a 1978 graduate of Cambridge High School. He had worked at Boyd Crystal Art Glass and Colgate Palmolive for over 10 years each. Bob then worked as an OSHA safety coordinator for the state of Ohio for another 20 years before retiring.
He was a long time member and past elder of the East Union Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Guernsey Lodge 66 F&AM, the Scottish Rite and the Ohio Eastern Stars. He was a board member and past president of the Living Word Outdoor Drama.
Bob was a huge John Glenn youth and high school sports fan. He never missed watching and recording his girls and grandkids events. He was a past president of New Concord Summer Softball and Baseball association, where he coached for many years. He also coached the original Roadrunner's Girls Softball team. Bob was a glass enthusiast who loved collecting, dealing and working with glass. He was very knowledgeable of glass art. He and Christy had two well known glass molds, one of the bust of Christ that they donated to the Living Word banquet auction every year and one of the little angel.
"BobBob", as he was labeled by the grandkids, never met a stranger and was generous everywhere he went. Bob was a dedicated family man, always putting his family first. His number one priority in life was to make sure they were provided for.
Bob is survived by: his mother Dreama Ann (Wiseman) Mosher of
Sebring, FL / Cambridge and his step father Thomas Alton Mosher; his father, David Edgar Applegate of Cambridge; his wife of 42-1/2 years D. Christine "Christy" (White) Applegate; their children, Alyssa (& Josh) Woodard and Aarika Applegate (Brad Barclay); grandchildren, Robert Bexlee, Wylee and Dayzee Woodard, Knox Watson, Blade and MyLiegh Barclay; brothers, Mitchell Lee (& Julie) Applegate, Kenny (& Mary) Applegate and Davey (& Darlene) Applegate; his sister-in-laws Debby Butler (Duane Luft), Denise (& Ed) Stover, Diane (& Mike) StClair and Dawn (& George) Shehadeh; aunts, uncles, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by: his grandparents, Edgar and Verna Applegate, Victor and Justine Wiseman; his paternal grandmother Lorna McClelland; and his in-laws, Earl and Janet White.
Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 4 to 7pm with Masonic and Eastern Star services beginning at 7pm. Funeral services will be held at East Union Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 11 am. Evang. Bob Baier will officiate with burial to follow in East Union Cemetery.
