Robert Armstrong Obituary

Robert "Bob" Armstrong

Robert "Bob" Armstrong, 87, of Chuckey, Tennessee, died Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Signature HealthCare in Greeneville following a lengthy illness.

Bob grew up in Jay, Oklahoma, and graduated from Jay High School. After a career in Illinois working for Midwest Plating Co., Bob moved to Greeneville, Tennessee, in the late 1970s. He retired from CE Minerals in Greeneville.

He was a quiet man who often let his endless kindness to others speak for him. Bob was a self-taught expert in carpentry and building, as well as a skilled mechanic. His greatest role was as a devoted father to both his children and his pets.

A lover of all things outdoors, he could often be found planting trees, growing vegetables or embarking on the next camping adventure. He was also a super devoted NASCAR fan. He never met a race he couldn't watch on TV from green flag to checkered, usually complete with a nap about 100 laps in.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, wife, Frances; a son, Allen Armstrong; his parents, Beulah and Earl Armstrong; brothers, Wayne and Gary Armstrong; a sister, Barbara Long; and a grandson, Bobby Armstrong.

Survivors include a son, Ron Armstrong and Michelle Houston, of Chuckey; son, Russ Armstrong and Karen Armstrong of Chuckey; daughter, Virginia and Mike Jaynes of Greeneville; son, Roger Armstrong, of Johnson City; son, Don Armstrong and Wendi Armstrong, of Afton; special friend and companion, Shirley Terry, of Chuckey; brother, Alvin Armstrong, of Jay, Oklahoma; brother, Jim Armstrong and Elaine Armstrong, Ponca City, Oklahoma; sister, Retha Johnsen and Greg Johnsen, Tucson, Arizona; sister, Mary Maeder, Claremore, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service, 208 North College St., Greeneville, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.. Funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. Dr. David Green officiating.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Carter's Station Cemetery, 965 Albany Road, Greeneville, at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Joey Tillery officiating. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to meet at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service, 208 North College St., Greeneville, to proceed in procession to the cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Brett Armstrong, Ken Armstrong, Jeremy Armstrong, Michael Wills and Steve Johnson.. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Cook's First Baptist Church Sunday School class..

Special thanks go to the staff of Signature HealthCare of Greeneville for the great care provided to Bob.
