Please join our family at 11am Saturday, August 19th, 2023, at Brown Owen and Brumley Funeral Home to celebrate the SUPERB life of Coach Bob Auten 10/29/1937 - 08/14/2023.
Bob was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma to parents Clarice Carder Auten and Orville Lee Auten, both deceased. His father was killed in battle in the Philippines during World War II. He graduated from Ada Highschool in 1955, where he helped his team win multiple state championships, and later graduated from Tulsa University in 1960 where he was a football letterman. He was also proud to have served as a member of the Marine Reserves. Bob began a career of teaching and coaching that spanned 54 years creating monumental impacts on many lives. He began his career in Yokum Texas, where he met his first wife Martha Bland. Bob continued his long and successful career coaching where he became head coach at Big Pasture High School and went on to coach in Idabel and McAlister, Oklahoma. After 34 years at Brewer Highschool in White Settlement Texas, he completed his long and fulfilling career retiring in 2012.
In 1994, he began his next adventure when he married Victoria. “Football, Grandchildren and Keeping Victoria Happy” was Bob’s life motto. If he wasn’t watching football, he was spending time in Mexico with Viki and friends. Very few things surpassed how happy he was when his home was filled to the brim with loved ones, especially on Christmas Eve. You could always count on him being there to help his grand and great grandchildren in any way he could, to encourage them to reach their highest potential and to achieve their dreams.
Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Auten; his first wife, Martha Bland Auten; his granddaughter Taryn Auten, and granddaughter Amy Vincent.
He is survived by his Large and Loving family.
