Raleigh – Robert Breen Barbour, Jr., 63, passed away peacefully in his home following a long battle with cancer with his family, beloved dogs and friends by his side on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. He was born in Wake County, NC, on April 18, 1961, and was the son of the late Robert Breen Barbour, Sr. and Jo Inez Burke Barbour.
Robert graduated from Fuquay-Varina High School in 1979. He was a framing contractor for 30 years and owned his own business, Custom Homes Inc. Though Robert was an avid hunter over the years, following retirement, he enjoyed fishing. He was also proud to be a member of the FFA, was an NC State fan, and spent many years mud racing his Chevy S-10 "LiveWire".
Robert is survived by his wife of 38 years, Terry M. Barbour; son, Christopher David Barbour (Summer) of Four Oaks; daughter, Danielle Barbour Baker (Christopher) of Willow Springs; grandchildren, Joseph, Lilly Mae, Clayton, Kenzie, Reese; niece, Jennifer Adams Moore of Cary; nephew, David Timothy Adams (Beth) of Quantico, VA.; special friends, Thomas Barnhart, and Dottie Maxim; lifelong friend, R.G. Taylor and his beloved dogs, Bentley and Rip.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Burke Barbour; aunt, Wilsona Lee Burke; lifelong friends, Ricky Stephenson and Jerry Bass.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 4th, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Willow Springs. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:45 PM prior to the service at the church. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
