Robert Beatrice Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home, Inc. - Elmwood Park on Mar. 2, 2026.
Robert "Bob" Beatrice, 72, of Rockaway Township passed away on Thursday, February 26th, 2026. Born in Passaic, he's been a resident of Rockaway Township for over 35 years. He was always a fan of History, which inspired him to obtain his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Marist. During his tenure at Marist, Bob played offensive guard for the Marist Red Foxes earning the distinguished honor of All American. Bob proudly wore jersey #64.

For over 40 years, Bob was a History teacher at Bloomfield High School and retired in 2021.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Minnie Beatrice, and his best bud and dog, Winston.

Bob is the beloved father of Megan (Mike) Lazur and Ryan (Chrissy) Beatrice. The most treasured title for Bob was that of "PopPop". He is adored and cherished by four grandchildren Kellan, Tyler, Joanna, and Elisa. His grandchildren were the light of his world. His biggest and brightest smiles were when he was watching ballerina twirls and playing quarterback.

Bob is a beloved brother of Michael (Yvonne) Beatrice, Maria (Tim) DeMarco, and Joseph (Joann) Beatrice. He is a fun-loving uncle to his nieces and nephews and also a dear friend and neighbor. His joyful presence will be missed by many.

During his downtime, Bob enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and listening to music, especially Neil Diamond and Bruce Springsteen. Bob had a fantastic sense of humor and could match wits with anyone. His positive outlook and friendly personality made him an instant companion to anyone he met. Bob was a fan of Notre Dame Football and New York professional sports teams (Giants, Mets, Rangers, Knicks). He was a very loyal and passionate fan. You always knew when Bob was watching his sports teams because you could hear the yelling and cheering from outside.

Bob was kind, caring, and believed in giving back whenever possible. He volunteered his time and his voice to the Special Olympics for over 30 years. He announced at both the Winter and Summer Games, ensuring every athlete was recognized and supported. The Special Olympics held a special place in Bob's heart, which is why his family kindly suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bob's memory to the Special Olympics.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bob's life. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 6, 2026 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home (274 Market Street, Elmwood Park, New Jersey). Cremation Private.
