Robert Anthony "Bert" Bakaitis

Robert "Bert" Anthony Bakaitis, 77, of Washington, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 26, 2025, in his home, surrounded by family and with his pup, Lucy, on his lap. He was born September 12, 1947, in Washington, a son of the late Edward Bakaitis and Marjorie Harshman Bakaitis. Bert was a graduate of Trinity High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1972. Bert retired from the Trinity Area School District, where he was employed in the maintenance department. He was a member of American Legion Post 175. Bert enjoyed fishing, tinkering around the house, shopping on Amazon, taking care of his yard, and hanging out by the bonfire with family and friends. He loved vacationing at Sanibel Island, Fla., and camping at Myrtle Beach with his granddaughters. He also loved spending time with his grandson, bonding over bikes, shooting and fishing. On July 22, 1966, he married Donna J. Dever Bakaitis, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Debbie (Todd) Griffin of Washington, and Doug Bakaitis of Washington; three grandchildren, Mackenzie Griffin, Alexis Bakaitis and Anthony Bakaitis; two brothers, David (Ginny) Bakaitis, and Ron (Laura) Bakaitis, all of Washington; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; his dog, Lucy; and his cat, Chelsea. Arrangements and services are private and entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
