Robert Lawrence Bishard Sr., 83, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2025, at his home in the care of Hospice of Guernsey, surrounded by family.
Robert was born on April 29, 1941, in Cambridge, a son to the late Elmer and Treva (Bichard) Sickles.
He was a member of the United States Marine Corps for four years, and the Ohio Army National Guard for twenty years. After being discharged, Robert was an LPN for the State Hospital for twenty years. He enjoyed reading and watching the Cleveland Guardians. Robert was a member of Abundant Life Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Judith Bishard, whom he married on October 20, 1967, and passed away on March 24, 2019, three sisters, Marlene, Janice, and Peggy, and two brothers, Ronald and Bill
Robert is survived by his four daughters, Heather Hendershot of Cambridge, Heidi (William) Gray of Cambridge, Holly Bishard of Columbus, and Denise Bishard of Las Vegas, Nevada, a son, Robert Bishard Jr. of Pennsylvania, one brother, Jeff Sickles of Sydney, and one sister, Pat Sickles of Texas. Also left to cherish his memory are his nineteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, his brother-in-law, Dan Daugherty of Cambridge, and his caregiver, Becky Roe.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 10 AM-11AM at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with the funeral service to immediately follow with Pastor Kris Bright officiating. Burial will follow at Northwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchild, friend, or take them to throw a fishing line in the water for a moment, an hour or a day. Time waits for no one.
