Robert J. Bittner

Robert "Bob" Joseph Bittner of West View, PA passed away on August 5, 2023 at the age of 75. He passed peacefully on his balcony, enjoying the fresh air and company of his many plants.
Bob was born on January 19, 1948 to Edward and Mildred Bittner. He grew up in the Northside of Pittsburgh with his 6 siblings. At age 17 he enlisted in the Navy and proudly served 4 years on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt in addition to 2 years in the Navy Reserves. Bob loved reminiscing about his time in the Navy, talking often about his travels and the shenanigans he and his shipmates got into.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly, with whom he raised their two children, Michelle Walters and Kimberly Osselborn. Bob brought fun and creativity to his relationship with his children; taking them sled riding down ridiculously steep hills, building igloos with them, and painting a beautiful mural for their playroom. He continued some of these traditions with his grandchildren, Ashley Fersch, Kayla Wahl, and Timothy Wahl. Late in life, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of tending his plants, eating copious amounts of cheese, and pranking his neighbors in the high rise. He enjoyed seeing his great-grandson, Manuel Milano, grow during his first year of life, imagining all of the possibilities for his future. Bob's creativity, wit, mischief, and reverence for God's creation will be greatly missed.
A service will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA. on Tuesday, August 22 at 10:30am.
