Robert W. "Beany" Blackford, Jr., 71, of Massillon, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Robert was born on January 13, 1953 in Massillon, OH the son of the late Robert and Agnes (Murphy) Blackford, Sr.
Bob "Beany" was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1971 graduate of Washington High School. He proudly served our country in the Air Force during Vietnam War. Following his service to our country he married Vicki Hoffner and they shared 35 years of marriage prior to her passing. He worked for Brechbuhler Scales, Inc. for nearly 40 years before retiring. Beany loved being outdoors, enjoying his pool, gardening, loud music, and long walks. He took pride in attending his grandchildren's activities and investing in their lives. After his wife's passing, he met his girlfriend Vicky Hartzell who shared his passion for dogs and church. They enjoyed taking many trips to the Lake Erie beaches and taking their dogs.
He is survived by his daughters, Mellissa (Dan) Grace, and Jennifer (Jason) Rohrer; grandchildren, Cale and Luke Grace, and Gavin and Quinn Rohrer; girlfriend, Vicky Hartzell; brother-in-laws, Mike (Amy) Hoffner and Rick Hoffner; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Thomas) Murdock; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki Ann Blackford; sister, Patricia Henderhan; and brother, Jeffrey Blackford.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 10 - 11 am at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, with the service following at 11 am. Fr. John Sheridan, Officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where military rites will be held. To share a memory of Beany or leave a special message for his family, please sign the online guest book.
