Robert Walter "Bob" Block, 77, of Hampshire, Illinois, passed away August, 2nd 2025, at Home surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 17th, 1947, son of Walter and Magdalene (Melnitzke) Block. Bob married Karen Buck on June 8th, 1968, at Schiller Park, Illinois. Bob served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1971 to 1972. After his service, he returned to work as a meat cutter with Jewel for 40 years. He enjoyed traveling to Disney World, woodworking, and building his backyard train set. He was known for his cooking tips and advice and his famous pickles were enjoyed by many. He will be remembered and deeply missed for his humor and wit. He is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Tiffany (Terry) Herrmann, and Heather (Ryan) Dreher; his grandchildren, Zachary (Paige) Herrmann, Alexander Herrmann, Brooke Dreher, and Devon Dreher; and his sister, Karen Burkhalter. He is preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 20th, 2025 at 12 pm located at the Genoa Veterans Home, 311 S Washington St., in Genoa, with Military Honors performed by the United States Army. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert's name may be made out to the Genoa Veterans Home.
