English, Robert A. 01/26/1940-11/28/24
Robert A. English (Bob), 84, of Cincinnati passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024. He was surrounded by family just as he wished, at his home.
Bob was born January 26, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was one of eight siblings. Cincinnati is where he spent his childhood, early adulthood and in 1958 he met the love of his life and soulmate, Shirley. They later married on July 15, 1961 at Sacred Heart Church. In 1980 they moved to Brookville, Indiana with their two children Rob and Michele.
Bob retired from General Motors after 40 dedicated years. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Brookville and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. After retirement he worked alongside his son Rob at their family-owned business on Yellow Bank Road. Bob was a lover of the outdoors, and many wonderful memories were made with his family and friends on Brookville Lake boating, fishing and laughing. He also spent many deer hunting seasons on his farm with his brothers, son and grandchildren. In 2017 Bob and Shirley moved back to Cincinnati to be closer to their daughter Michele, who was his caretaker in his final years. Bob lived a long, wonderful life and will be deeply missed by many.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years Shirley English ( nee Douthitt). Loving father of Rob (Jennifer) English of Brookville and Michele (Ed) Alfonso of Cincinnati. Cherished grandfather of Craig (Dustiny) English of Liberty Indiana, Cole English of Liberty Indiana, Alyssa (Anthony) Moorman of Osgood Indiana, Kylee (Steven) Cherry of Chicago Illinois, and Max Alfonso of Cincinnati. Great grandfather to Madi, Maci, Ashlynn, Abbie and Adam. Devoted brother of Edith (John) Guth, Tom (Karen) English, and the late Jim, Joe, Tony, Bill, and Mary Jo (nee Holton) English. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.
