Robert Leon Gawf, fondly known as "Bob," passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, service, and community.

Bob was born on October 25, 1932, in Eufaula, Oklahoma, to the late Robert Ca and Mattie Lea (McCurley) Gawf. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Bob served his country with honor and integrity. He was also a devoted member of Centenary Methodist Church in Bonne Terre, Missouri.

After completing his military service, Bob pursued higher education with passion. He was a proud member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity at Oklahoma State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He later continued his academic journey at University of Missouri, achieving a Master’s degree in Adult Education — a testament to his lifelong commitment to learning.

On September 1, 1956, Bob married the love of his life, Martha "Marty" (Holekamp) Gawf. Together, they built a beautiful marriage of over 68 years, filled with devotion, partnership, and countless cherished memories.

For more than 30 years, Bob owned and managed Holekamp Do-It Center, a family-run business. Bob was highly respected in the Bonne Terre community.

Bob’s accomplishments extended far beyond business. He was a 60-year member of the Samaritan Lodge #424 in Bonne Terre, he served on the Missouri Extension agency for many counties in the areas, he was a dedicated 4-H Director, fostering youth development in agriculture and leadership.

Bob was a farmer he raised many herds of cattle over the years; he served as President of the local Poultry Farms. He was a successful entrepreneur, owning multiple businesses over the years, including a NAPA Auto Parts store. He loved camping, traveling, playing tennis, square dancing, gardening, and was a talented athlete. Above all, he was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Education was deeply important to Bob, and he took great pride in ensuring his children had access to excellent educational opportunities. His quiet strength, kindness, and steady support left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Catherine Sizemore and Marcella McCarty.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Marty Gawf; children, Robert “Brownie” (Debbie) Gawf, Barbie (Gawf) Crocker and Janie (Gawf) Deal; bonus son, Gabriel Crocker; grandchildren; Nick (Amber Noll) Conrad, Robert Joseph (Hannah DVM) Gawf, Darren K. (Kylie) Gawf, Joseph Ross Crocker, Timothy Connor Crocker, Jessica E. (Carter) Carstens; eleven great-grandchildren; fur baby, Frannie the cat; several nieces and nephews, along with numerous extended family members and friends.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Lora Westhoff and Karen DeClue with A1 Heath Care for their compassionate and dedicated care during this difficult time it will never be forgotten.

Bob Gawf will be lovingly remembered for his many accomplishments, his deep-rooted values, and, most of all, for the man he was — a loyal friend, neighbor, and the heart of his family.
