Robert “Bob” Neil Gordon, age 87, a resident of Redkey, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025.
Bob was born February 6, 1938, in Jay County, Indiana, the son of Everett and Aunita (Ford) Gordon. He graduated from Redkey High School where he enjoyed Band and was very active in 4-H. Bob was a substitute bus driver for Jay School Corporation and was a lifelong livestock and grain farmer in Jay and Randolph County. He married Barbara “Ramona” Smelser on October 18, 1958 and she passed away on August 20, 2022.

His children: Lou Ann Zimmerman (husband Ron) – Redkey, Indiana
Kay Haffner (husband Mike) – Ridgeville, Indiana
Melissa Lawson (husband Eddie) – New Paris, Ohio
1 sister: Sandy Loyd – Portland, Indiana
6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sharon Oates.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12 – 2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Pastor Scott Turner will officiate and burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed towards Jay County Cancer Society.
