There are three virtues that describe Robert "Bob" Duane Morgan: Faithful, Loyal, and a man of Service. Bob was a real treasure to his family, to the church, to his friends, and to our country. He was born on May 20, 1947, in a house in Gallion, Alabama, to his parents, Mondell Duane Morgan and Catherine Connell Morgan. He returned home to the Lord on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in his house in Bossier City, Louisiana. He was a quiet, steadfast Irishman.

Bob started learning early in life how to be responsible and to live out the mission God had entrusted to him. His parents passed on these great virtues to all their children. Both his parents served in the military, with his father retiring after more than 20 plus years. Bob and Charlie received the Eagle Scout award in 1965. The family with six children traveled across the country and then beyond to Paris, France. Bob’s first jobs include a paper route with Charlie, a gas station, and pumping gas when that was the norm. He graduated from Airline High School in 1966. He wanted to go to college, but the draft was happening. He went to Sears and then to the ammunition plant. He enlisted in 1967 in the United States Navy, and that is when he saw Mary Morgan and told his mom, "I'm going to marry her."

Bob had many talents and showed advanced ability in complicated tasks. He qualified for the submarine force, which lasted for his six-year enlistment. He never revealed any of the mission's information that his crew undertook. It was all top secret! He carried that kind of loyalty for the rest of his life. Becoming a Quarter Master before his time was completed. We may wonder how someone could be on those boats for such long periods of time, but it took a man who had patience, endurance, and trustfulness. Bob was that kind of man. When Bob returned home, he was able to return to the Army Ammunition plant. In 1973, he was officially discharged from the Navy, but God was at work. Bob got hired on at Bell South, which started his work history of 38 years. Bob had technical skills that allowed him to move from lineman to cable splicer to being known among his co-workers as someone "that knows what to do". He was a good-natured man; however, could be like a bear at times! He kept his faith alive for others to see by always supporting right-to-life issues, justice for all, and services to one another. He was not afraid to pray, always wore his cross, and had his rosary in his pocket. He had served Mass as a young man, and even on the Sub, he helped with Catholic Services.

His history with the Knights goes back to 1973. Where he learned more ways of service to mankind, and in following our Faith. In 1980, Bob's Dad and his brothers became Fourth Degree Knights, all four at the same time. It was a special event to remember. Bob loved whatever he did for the knights, writing checks, cutting the fish for the Lent fish Frys, softball or other tournaments, and Bingo. He wanted to carry out his duties as best as he could. He served on the parish council at Christ the King Catholic Church.

With the children, he studied to be a coach at several sports: T-ball, softball, basketball, and finally soccer. Eventually, he even became a Soccer Ref. He was agile and fit for the activity. He learned a lot from the exchange sons that we had, but also from Mr. Tony Papanrie. Later in life, Bob and Mary bowled in a league with Gary and Mary Price. That too was a learning activity that Bob enjoyed. Bob could build anything and fix any car.

He loved his family, our Catholic Faith, and our country. Not many people know of his good and caring heart. He was a proud man, very quiet about what he did. He was a great man for helping others. The children remember all the snakes, spiders, and birds that he brought home for them to see. He had long-time friendships that he kept and cherished. Bob was the extra hand in many ministries over the years in the family: RCIA, Marriage Encounter, Pre-Cana, visiting the Prisoners, and the homeless. He filled many a bag, he drove his “big truck" while Mary made visits. Together, they were an odd couple doing God's work for the past 52 plus years. God does seem to have a sense of humor about life. Bob taught his grandchildren about steadfastness, respect, and honor.

In his last years, he could no longer drive that "big truck", but his heart was the same; he was loyal to God, country, and family. He prayed every night with Mary and said the rosary during the day. We thank God for letting Bob Morgan, spouse, dad, brother, Papaw, friend, and fellow knight to be a part of our lives. Now our Sir Knight can plead for us and help us in new ways. He loved his wife, his children, his family, and his church. Bob Morgan was a treasure, a real pearl of great price!

Bob’s older sister, who shares her birthday (exactly one year apart), is Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Moss. Betty was married to BJ Moss, and they have two children together, MaryKay and Anthony Dorris, and daughter, Lily, and "Micky" and Jason Moerbe, and son, Jakob. Sharing a birthday with Betty was always a happy thing for Bob, and he was just about 14 months ahead of his brother, Charlie Joseph Morgan, who became a priest on March 17, 1979, in the Diocese of Shreveport, Louisiana, and then transferred to the Diocese of Alexandria. Next came Irene "Peanut" Sterling Gerow, who was married to Pete Gerow. Their daughter is Cathy, who is married to Joe Del Toro and children, Rachel and Emile. Followed by Melvin Daniel "Danny" Morgan, who was married to Vanessa Morgan, they share two daughters together, Danessa and Jerry Wirth, Danielle and Critter Craft, and children, Vanessa and Nick, and lastly Regina "Jeanie" Marie Elbert and husband, Thomas "Tommie", they have one daughter together, Paula, and her child, Thomas. He is also survived by wife, Mary Elizabeth Lowrey Morgan and four children, Jennifer Marie Morgan, John Duane Morgan and wife, Katie Eddleman Morgan and children, Julia Kathryn Morgan, Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann Morgan; Joanna Catherine Morgan-Huckabee and husband, Justin Huckabee and children, Mary Margaret Huckabee and Anna Catherine Huckabee, and Jeanette Irene Buckley and husband, Clint Buckley and their children, Nathan Duane Buckley, Matthew Glenn Buckley, and Genevieve Irene Buckley. One aunt and uncle, Mary and Keith Ledford, who reside in Florida.

From 1985 to 1990, there were seven different exchange sons that spent time within our family: Marcos, Roosevelt, Igor, Andre’, Alex, Raul, and Leonardo. One brother-in-law, Jerry Phillip Lowrey, and his three sons, Paul Lowrey and wife, Amy, Carl Lowrey, and "JJ" Lowrey.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mamaw and Daddy Joe; parents, Catherine and Mondell Morgan; mother-in-law, Genevieve Pizzo Lowrey; brothers-in-law, BJ Moss, Pete Gerow, and Joe Lowrey; sister-in-law, Vanessa Morgan; close friends, Melvin Story and Mike Wojecki; and all the Knights that have gone before from Council #4873.
