Raymond Rand “Randy” McHenry, 76, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, surrounded by his wife and kids. Randy was born on May 15, 1949, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Lt. Col. Raymond Ralph McHenry and Imogene Fallen McHenry. He grew up in Bossier City, was a 1967 graduate of Airline High School, and later attended Louisiana Tech University, though it soon became clear that military life was his true calling. Randy proudly served seven years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Coral Sea.
After completing his active-duty service, he returned stateside, where his commitment to serving his country continued in the Navy Reserves. During this chapter of life, he also met and married the love of his life and forever wife, Tommie. Following several years working at Roadway Express, Randy completed his military career with the 917th Squadron as an Air Force Reservist, closing out decades of honorable and dedicated service to his country.
Randy was known for his sharp wit, stubborn determination, and unmistakable wise guy comments that kept everyone on their toes. He was an avid baseball fan, loved to travel, and treasured time spent with his grandchildren above all else. Those who knew him will remember his loyalty, his humor, and his unwavering devotion to family.
Randy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Tommie Sharp McHenry; his son, Andy McHenry (wife Mary); his daughter, Kim Hawn (husband Anthony); his beloved grandchildren, Joey Medrano, Paige Valentine, Austin Hawn, Ayden Hawn, and Kenzie McHenry; his sister, Susan McHenry; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Col. Raymond McHenry, Jr., Ret., and Imogene McHenry, and his sister, Jean McHenry.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 17, 2026 at 4:30 at Northpoint Community Church. A reception will follow a short service.
