Robert “Bob” Reese Sr., age 90, of Valdosta, GA, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024. Born on May 29, 1934, in Tullahoma, TN, Bob lived a full and colorful life, filled with family, hard work, and dedication to his passions.
Bob had a long career as a sales manager for Toyota and Honda, helping countless families find the perfect vehicle over his many years in the industry. He was also a man of adventure and spent part of his youth and later years working for the carnival, starting at the age of 17 and continuing through the late 1960s, later returning to the carnival in retirement. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army, and those who knew him best also knew his love for gardening. He had earned the affectionate nickname “Bumblebee” among his close friends in Tullahoma.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of many years, Catherine Reese (Lazarus) of Valdosta, GA; his son, Robert James Reese Jr., of Port St. Joe, FL; and his daughter, Kim Ortmeyer and her husband, Tim, of Valdosta, GA. He was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Marvin Reese and his wife Brittany of Pittsview, AL, and Katie and Jack Ortmeyer, both of Valdosta, GA. Bob’s legacy continues through his four great-grandchildren: Sarah and Ryan Cantelli and Isabella and Connor Reese, all of Pittsview, AL.
He is also survived by his siblings, Gladys Cleek of Kimberly, AL; Richard Reese of Tullahoma, TN; and JoAnn Jensen of Canada, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will remember him fondly. He was predeceased by his parents, Johnnie, and Hazel (Branch) Reese; his brothers, Reagor, JB, and Tommy Reese; his sister, Linda Holt; and his grandson, Alto Reese.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at New Covenant Church 3531 Bemiss Road Valdosta, GA., 31605. Pastor Scotty Williams will officiate.
