The battle is over, I have fought a good fight, and the victory is finally won.

No more suffering and pain; I have much more to gain.

I heard the heavenly angelic choir singing as it drew near the hour.

 When the pearly gates open,

I could see…

On August 16, 1975, in the small city of Elgin, Texas, Alvin Ray Reese and Scylester Rose Reese were blessed with a bouncing baby boy; by the Grace of God, they had twin boys, Ernest and Larnest. This gift from God was given the name Larnest Dewayne Reese, and his twin was named Ernest Reese. As twins, they were a handful and the youngest of seven children.

Larnest grew up in the community of Elgin and attended the public schools. Having a twin brother, he always had a friend and someone to play with. He earned the nickname “Nose” from his grandmother after digging in her purse. That name followed him throughout his life. Larnest grew up with a strong Christian foundation. Often playing church with his siblings, he accepted his call to the ministry later in life. Lanest loved motorcycles and fishing and worked on everything that was broken.

Lanest was united in Holy Matrimony to Cherlita Harrison on December 17, 1995, and this union was blessed by God with five children. The couple enjoyed 35 years together and 29 years of marriage. They nurtured their family as it grew, including the grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

As we accept God’s will, Minister Reese, ‘Nose’ leaves to cherish his loving smile and memories to his devoted wife of twenty-nine years, Cherlita Reese, five children: Rae’Shona Reese (Jake), Larnest Reese Jr (Scooby), Ne’Kevia Reese (Keion’Dre), Isaiah Reese, and Keyshawn Milligan all of Elgin, Texas; his six grandchildren Larnest Reese III (Scrappy), Adelina Rose, Brooklyn, Roland, Kyrie, and Kneliyah; his mother and stepfather; Bobby and Rose Vincent, his siblings: Alvin Reese Jr “Nathan,” Lewis Reese (Rosa), Tess Reese, Gary Reese, Debra Reese - “Henrietta,” and his twin, Earnest Reese - “Bert”; his in-laws: Billy Harrison Sr., Bobbie Montez, Kyoto, Dionysia, Billy Harrison Jr., and Craig McCauley; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends, including the Anointed Temple Church family.

Family and Friends will gather for a Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 18th, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with Wake Service to begin at 7:00 PM. A Home-Going Celebration will be held on Thursday, December 19th, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church of Elgin under the auspices of the Anointed Temple of Taylor at 2:00 PM with Bishop Willie McNeal presiding. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery of Sayers.
