Dougherty Funeral Home - HibbingRobert Joseph Tokarczyk, known to family and friends as “Bob”, 74, of Cherry, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on March 4, 2026.
Born in Duluth and raised in Smithville, Bob graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1969. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he was a proud member of Sigma Iota Epsilon, a professional industrial education fraternity.
Bob’s professional journey included time at MinnTac before he began a long career with the U.S. Postal Service in Grand Rapids, where he served until his retirement in 2010. Beyond his professional life, Bob was deeply committed to his community as a retired volunteer member of the Cherry Fire Department and a faithful member of the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing, as well as their Cluster Bible Study Group.
On June 12, 1976, Bob married the love of his life, Sheryl DeRosier. Together, they shared nearly 50 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories. Bob was a true outdoorsman who found joy in rifle and bow hunting with his brothers, making maple syrup and beer, birdwatching, and bowling. He and Sheryl enjoyed traveling across the U.S. on many road and bus trips, but his greatest joy was the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Tokarczyk, children, Paul (Vanessa) Tokarczyk and Sondra (Andy Hanson) Tokarczyk, grandchildren, Landon, Kiah, Gianna, and Hartley, brothers, Tom Tokarczyk, Ron (Carol) Tokarczyk, Larry (Karen) Tokarczyk, and Rick (Judi) Tokarczyk, along with cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Beatrice Tokarczyk, his in-laws, Arthur and Joanne DeRosier, and his sister-in-law, Jan Tokarczyk.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 pm Monday, March 30, 2026, at First Lutheran Church in Hibbing, MN. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the beginning of the service at 2:00 pm at the church
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Guardian Angels Rehab in Hibbing and Essentia Health Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to First Lutheran Church in Hibbing or to an animal shelter of your choice.
