Frances G. Erickson

July 30, 1940 March 5, 2026

Frances G. Erickson, 85, longtime resident of Chisholm, died Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Essentia Health-Virginia, MN of natural causes. She was born July 30, 1940, to Michael and Mary (Maras) Jerkovich in Hibbing, MN. Fran graduated from Hibbing High School then went on to receive her secretarial degree at Hibbing Community College. She married Fred Erickson, on November 6, 1965. She moved to the Twin Cities and worked at IDS for several years before returning to the Hibbing area. Most of her career was spent with Davy McKee, where she formed many lasting connections. Frances later retired from Rupp Funeral Home in Chisholm, where she was remembered for the compassionate way, she supported families during their most difficult moments. She had a gift for easing the weight of grief, always going out of her way to make the burden a little lighter for those she served.

Fran was a faithful steward who lived her life grounded in devotion and compassion. She cherished her faith and expressed it through her unwavering commitment to her church and her selfless care for others—always giving more than she ever asked for in return. She looked to the Lord for guidance and strength in every chapter of her life. Fran taught those around her to stand strong, to stand together, and to hold fast to what truly matters. Strength was her gift, love was her language, and her heart was always guided by the values she held dear. She was an extraordinary mother who instilled resilience, confidence, and strength, and she loved her grandchildren with a depth that was truly unconditional. Throughout her life, she embodied a strong work ethic and a steadfast commitment to doing what was right.

Fran is survived by her daughter Holly (Jon) Minne, beloved grandchildren Andrew (Jackson Setter) Minne, and Meghan (Tim Sowers) Minne, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary (Maras) Jerkovich, husband, Frederick A. Erickson in 2016, and four siblings: Michael Jerkovich, Yvonne Thronson, Sandy Johnson, and Clifford Jerkovich.

A special thank you to the nurses and Dr. Greer at Essentia Health in Virginia for assisting Mom through her last days and for the support given to her family. The family also wants to thank Cornerstone Villa for the care and compassion shown to Fran over the past year, and especially to Rene and Stacy for their kindness, patience, and thoughtful attention.

Funeral services for Fran will be 11:00 am, Friday, March 13, 2026, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Bill Skarich will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Friday. A private interment will be held in the Chisholm Cemetery, Chisholm, MN. Per the families wishes, memorials are preferred to Cornerstone Villa Activities Fund in Buhl, MN. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
