Robert Lee “Bob” Bateman March 5, 1957 – August 12, 2025
Robert Lee “Bob” Bateman, 68, of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on August 12, 2025, at 7:35 PM.
Born on March 5, 1957, Robert lived a life grounded in generosity, kindness, a strong work ethic, and an unwavering love for Jesus Christ. His faith guided his heart, and his actions reflected the compassion and grace he so deeply believed in. A lifelong member of Gashland Presbyterian Church, Robert’s commitment to his faith community was an integral part of his life.
Robert graduated from Oak Park High School in Gladstone, Missouri, in 1975. He went on to attend the University of Missouri, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He was also an Eagle Scout, an achievement that reflected his dedication, leadership, and service to others.
For 44 years, Robert was the proud owner of Bargain Barn Furniture, which later became Happy Rock Antiques. In addition, he worked as a commercial real estate broker and investor, and he was a passionate advocate for lower taxes. In every role, Robert strived to treat each person with dignity and respect.
Robert first married Donna Bateman, with whom he had three beautiful daughters. In 2018, Robert married Gabriel Lynn Glossip-Bateman, with whom he shared deep love and companionship in his later years. Above all, Robert’s greatest joy and pride was being a father, and he approached parenthood with the same integrity, resilience, and devotion that defined his life.
Robert is survived by his beloved mother, Rosalea Bateman; his devoted wife, Gabriel Lynn Glossip-Bateman; and his three cherished daughters, Sarah Bateman, Elisabeth Orallo-Bateman, and Hannah Bateman. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Mila Orallo; his siblings, Mark (Lisa) Bateman and David (Donna) Bateman;and dozens of nephews, nieces and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Drexel Bateman.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at Terrace Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 801 NW Shoal Creek Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64155.
Robert’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, the love he shared, and the example he set for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
